Mary Mitchell

Topic:  Mindfulness:  Linking Leadership to Presence

Mary Mitchell is Senior Associate, Community Engagement for Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council; she has served the council for more than 20 years. Mitchell leads the strategy and innovation for the council’s community engagement framework and oversees the council direction and focus related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is a 2017 Virginia G. Piper Trust Fellow.

Mitchell has completed advanced Executive MBA coursework at Grand Canyon University, as well as executive level studies through the Society for Organizational Learning. She holds a liberal arts degree from Governors State University and an associate of arts degree from South Mountain Community College; she also studied public relations at Arizona State University

Pam Betz

Topic:  Community Resource Development …Tips on Raising People & Money!

Pam Betz, President of Betz & Company, is a longtime Valley of the Sun resident with extensive experience as both a professional and volunteer leader.  She is certified in Nonprofit Organizational Management from Arizona State University and was a long time member of the adjunct faculty at the Lodestar Center for Nonprofit Management.  She served as a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Arizona Chapter (AFP) Board and on the Workplace Volunteer Task Force of the Points of Light Foundation.  She was the Director of Fund Development & Marketing for the Volunteer Center of Maricopa County; the Corporate Director of Community Resources for St. Luke’s Health System; and, served on the Executive Committee of Scottsdale Leadership, as well as the President of the Central AZ Chapter of the Corporate Volunteer Council.  She served as past Chair of the Community Leadership Council of United Blood Services on which she still sits; has chaired various panels for the  Valley of the Sun United Way; and has been active in fundraising events for Habitat for Humanity Valley of the Sun, Maggie’s Place, Wastenot and Hospice of the Valley.

She is a frequent presenter at local and regional conferences and is a frequent contributor to national publications.
